OSS client libraries more than doubled active reach in one year

Between early 2025 and 2026, our open-source ecosystem more than doubled its unique active users, with strong growth in API engagement.

The goal

Developer acquisition is moving into agent sessions. We needed to meet builders there, strengthen the open-source libraries they use, and measure whether that distribution turned into adoption.

What shipped

Between early 2025 and 2026, the open-source ecosystem more than doubled its unique active users, and API engagement grew with it. I helped lead distribution strategy across major UI frameworks and AI agent platforms, working with teams across product, engineering, UX, DevX, DRE, technical writing, and field engineering.

We treated open source, agent context, product integrations, and measurement as one system. Google Maps Platform also sponsors @vis.gl/react-google-maps, which has more than 1 million weekly downloads.

What I learned

Distribution, product integration, and open source work best as one measured system. Keep the metrics separate, credit the team, and do not confuse presence in a workflow with proof of adoption. That is the core of DevX as a growth discipline.
